Barnet

Official Barnet FC Website
PTV site, register to access.
[JM 20-5-05]

Barnet Football Club Supporters' Association
Well put together site for the - guess who? - BFC Supporters Association. Updated regularly with news and views, plus a history of the club and info on the Supporters Association.
[JM 20-5-05]

Barnet FC History
Site dedicated to the history of BFC, as is obvious from the title. Exhaustively detailed.
[JM 20-5-05]

Barnet Fan Club of Norway
What is it about obscure English football clubs that attracts such devotion from our Scandinavian friends? I mean, are there 'Trondheim FC Fan Club of England' websites around? I somehow doubt it.....
[JM 20-5-05]

Barnet Mad
The Bees very own footy.mad site - a pretty typical example of the genre, but at least run by a Barnet fan.
[JM 20-5-05]

beesbeesbees.com
The owner stopped updating this Rivals.net site in September 2001. It is still available as an archive, and the forum is still open though little used now.
[JM 20-5-05]

BFC Unofficial
At the time of writing still (2 years later) consists of one page with the following message: "This website has been taken offline but will be relanched [sic] in the coming days, sorry for any inconvinence [sic] this may have caused." I can hardly wait.
[JM 20-5-05]

Boston United

Boston United Official
Boston's official site is almost unique - one of only two official club sites in Leagues One or Two that isn't part of the PTV network. What's here is pretty unremarkable to be honest but it makes a nice change to be able to look around an official club website without being told I can't look at the directions to the stadium page or whatever because I haven't registered to view the site. Well done Boston! Before I get too carried away praising the Cheats it should be noted that the 'history' section on the site is hilarious in the way they try to brush the unpleasant facts of their promotion from the conference to one side - put me in mind of Pravda at its height.
[JM 20-5-05]

The Original Boston United FC Website
Used to be the official site but the new chairman threw a wobbly at the content on the forum and promptly took away the 'official' tag. So the forum's still there, as is the site, but now it's out of the club's control entirely. So that was a good move then.... Clunky design, but all the info you would normally require is here.
[JM 20-5-05]

BostonFever.com
Boston's rivals.net site. Say no more.
[JM 20-5-05]

Pilgrims Mad
Boston's footy.mad site. Say even less.
[JM 20-5-05]

impsTALK
A Boston site despite the name, has its tongue stuck very firmly in its cheek. Well worth a look even if there are too many in-jokes for the outsider to understand. Anti-Evans, anti-Sotnick and vaguely anti-social too, so they're alright by us.

Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers Official
PTV site, registration required to view.
[JM 20-5-05]

gasheads.com
New-ish independent site run by fans for fans, and it's pretty good too, their somewhat unflattering guide to Yeovil last season notwithstanding. Includes their own message boards and articles on various Roooovers-related subjects as well as a useful pub guide for away fans. They don't like El Fruitcake either, which is in itself a useful recommendation. Definitely worth a visit.
[JM 20-5-05]

Bristol Rovers Supporters Club
Official website of the BRFC supporters club, as you'd probably guessed. Well worth a browse, contains some thought-provoking and interesting articles.
[JM 20-5-05]

Black Arab
The online web presence of the fanzine of the same name. Is it me or is this site running out of steam?.
[JM 20-5-05]

Bristol Rovers Return
Pretty typical rivals.net fare, regularly updated.
[JM 20-5-05]

Bristol Rovers Mad
From the footy.mad stable of sites. Not at all recommended.
[JM 20-5-05]

Goodnight Irene
A sportsnetwork site. Not updated anytime recently and definitely not recommended.
[JM 20-5-05]

The Temple of Bristol Rovers
Basic independent fan site, regularly updated during the season.
[JM 20-5-05]

BRFC
Another independent fan site. Some useful info here, but seems not to have been updated since September '02.
[JM 20-5-05]

Eastville Remembered
Site dedicated to memories of Rover's old ground. No (working) photos, which is a shame.
[JM 20-5-05]

brfc.2ya.com
New fan site that ground to a halt 3 games into the 2004-05 season with Rooooovers 3rd in the table and unbeaten. If only the whole season could have stopped then, eh Gas fans?
[JM 20-5-05]

Bury

Bury FC Official
PTV site, registration required.
[JM 20-5-05]

Y3K Shakers
Bury's rivals.net site. One of the better examples of the network, regularly updated.
[JM 20-5-05]

Bury Mad
Bury's footy.mad site as it stands is a waste of internet resources. What's the point?
[JM 20-5-05]

Forever Bury
Website of the Bury Supporters Society, which looks remarkably like a Supporters Trust to me, but isn't. I don't think.
[JM 20-5-05]

Carlisle United

Carlisle United Official
PTV site, registration required.
[20-5-05]

Carlisle United Online
Footy.mad site, but regulary updated with news, views and opinion. Includes the busiest Carlisle message board.
[20-5-05]

94thminute.com
Carlisle's rivals.net website is typical of the genre.
[JM 20-5-05]

3 Games In Hand
Not updated anytime recently which is a shame as this was a decent site at one time. Maybe the enthusiasm will return now they're back in the football league?
[JM 20-5-05]

Mark Fuller Photos
Photo action from Carlisle's matches.
[JM 20-5-05]

Reeves Is Offside Again
Online presence of the fanzine, contains archived articles of generally good quality. Last updated Jan 2004.
[JM 20-5-05]

CUOSC
Online presence of the official CUFC Supporters Club.
[JM 20-5-05]

Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town Official
PTV site - registration required to view.
[JM 24-5-05]

Electric Robin
The usual rivals.net mix of a limited amount of useful info and articles years out of date. Well down to the usual rivals.net standard.
[JM 24-5-05]

Cheltenham Town Mad
The Robins footy.mad site has improved since I looked at it this time last year, but it's a minimal improvement. Sorry that I can't be more enthusiastic, but a decent and up-to-date news service doesn't make up for the rest of the site's shortcomings. Having said that it's better than it's rivals.net, er, rival.
[JM 24-5-05]

CTISA
"The Independent Supporters Association website has merged with the 500 Club website and is all brand new and shiny on the outside. Actual content on the inside is minimal however." I wrote that 12 months ago and nothing much has changed since
[JM 24-5-05]

Robins Nest
An archive of historical information about the Robins.
[JM 24-5-05]

Chester City

Chester City Official
The official CCFC site and - glory be - it's not part of the PTV network! Which means anyone can read it and gain access to the useful information found herein without registering! It'll never catch on, but well done Chester!
[JM 24-5-05]

www.chester-city.co.uk
Neat and tidy independent site, for some years acted as a kind of unofficial official site, with some features one would normally expect on an official site, but that's in the past now. Still RECOMMENDED for all that.
[JM 24-5-05]

Deva Chat
Home to THE CCFC message board. If you're a Chester fan or want to talk to Chester fans this is the place to go.
[JM 24-5-05]

The Famous Early Doors Website
Yet another makeover hasn't completely driven out the 'cluttered' look this site used to be the champions of, but it's certainly far more readable these days. In fact it's a very good independent fansite these days, with a somewhat more relaxed feel than the equally good www.chester-city.co.uk reviewed above. RECOMMENDED.
[JM 24-5-05]

CCFC Supporters Trust
From the same stable as www.chester-city.co.uk (reviewed above) this is the website of the Chester Supporters Trust. As one would expect, it's neat, tidy and very worthy.
[JM 24-5-05]

The Seals
Used to be one of the better run sport.network sites, but no updates now since autumn 2004
[JM 24-5-05]

Sunday Muddy Sunday
Website of the Chester ISA - seems to be devoted to the progress (or lack of it) of that body's sunday football team.
[JM 24-5-05]

Deva Txt
A text messaging service that will text your mobile every time Chester scores. Only 25p per text, so get subscribing Glovers fans! Eh? Oh.
[JM 24-5-05]

True Blue
A fan's tribute site full of stats and facts. Concentrates entirely on Chester's years in the Football League and ignores its Conference existence altogether - probably wisely. Recommended solely for obsessive Chester fans wearing anoraks, it's sites like this which make the web what it is - it's up to the reader to decide whether that's good or bad. Has recently turned into pop-up hell.
[JM 24-5-05]

The Onion Bag
Chester's old rivals.net site from their old Div 3 days. Now being updated again after 3-4 seasons being moribund, the question is, why? With at least 2 very good independent sites active what's the point?
[JM 24-5-05]

Back to Top of Page

Darlington

Darlington FC Official
PTV site, registration required to view.
[JM 24-5-05]

Darlo Uncovered
Untypical rivals.net site, inasmuch that it's informative, entertaining and not afraid to be controversial, as former chairman George Reynolds found out. I really don't like rivals.net sites, but this one's the exception to the rule.
[JM 24-5-05]

The Tinshed
Only the forum is left of the original Tinshed site, the webmaster having taken over running the Quakers official site.
[JM 24-5-05]

DAFTS
DAFTS is an acronym for Darlington Away Far Travelling Supporters - this excellent if somewhat cluttered independent site features guides to L2 grounds and worthwhile pubs in the vicinity. Includes a comprehensive guide to the pubs of Darlington. RECOMMENDED.
[JM 24-5-05]

Darlo Trust
As one would guess from the title, the website of the Darlington Supporters Trust. Visually bright, this is a cut above most Trust websites, with reams of info on the Trust's activities.
[JM 24-5-05]

Quakers Online
Independent fan site which ran out of steam fairly quickly in 2003. Pop-up hell, you have been warned.
[JM 24-5-05]

Back to Top of Page

Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town Official
PTV site, register to view
[JM 25-5-05]

Cod Almighty
Where do you start? A wonderful, wonderful independent site full of gems, humour, wisdom, poetry, rubbish, reports and, of course, fish. The best independent club site I've ever seen, bar none. Should be required reading for all aspiring webmasters, if only to scare off the incompetent. Fantastic, superb and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Well done me, not one dodgy fish pun.
[25-5-05]

Electronic.Fishcake.com
After the wonder that was Cod Almighty I'm tempted to say 'from the sublime to the ridiculous' seeing as this is a rivals.net site but that wouldn't be fair and I am nothing if I am not fair. The Electronic Fishcake is actually a pretty damn good rivals.net site, but when all is said and done it's still rivals.net.
[JM 26-5-05]

Jailhouse Rock
Grimsby's Norwegian fan site. Did you know that Grimsby have 23 registered fans in Norway? Nor me.
[JM 26-5-05]

Grimsby 24-7
Part of the 24-7 network of sites. Mediocre as a description is being kind
[JM 26-5-05]

Grimsby Town Supporters Trust
Impressively detailed website of the GTFC Supporters Trust. I can't think of anything else to say about this site.
[JM 26-5-05]

Grimsby Town Football Pages
Appears to be a site dedicated to GTFC memoribilia. I say 'appears' because I didn't look in any detail due to being frightened off by some truly nightmareish background music: Queen's 'We Are The Champions' is bad enough under normal circumstances, when it's being played on a very cheap-sounding electric organ it's time to leave the room, if not the planet.
[JM 26-5-05]

Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient Official
PTV site, registration required to view.
[JM 26-5-05]

Leyton Orient Fans Trust
Neat and tidy vehicle for the LOFC Fans Trust. Does what it says on the tin.
[JM 26-5-05]

LOFCOnline
Typical rivals.net fare. Some decent info on here and more that is well out of date.
[JM 26-5-05]

O-Net
Basic fan site with kept up-to-date with basic info herein. Most match reports are of a good quality.
[JM 26-5-05]

Leyton Orient Mad
Typical footy.mad site. Resolutely mediocre.
[JM 26-5-05]

Orient Express
Another fan site containing basic info, seems to have run out of steam a year ago last February.
[JM 26-5-05]

Orientitis
Yet another basic fan site. Some decent articles, but as with most other O's websites (seemingly), it's all well past its sell by date. On top of that, has turned into pop-up hell. This review is unchanged from last season and the season before that (apart from this sentence, obviously).
[JM 26-5-05]

OrientWeb
Yet another basic fan site that's out of date. No pop-ups, which is something.
[JM 26-5-05]

LOFC Supporters Club Scandinavia
More mad Vikings pay homage to an obscure English lower league club.
[JM 26-5-05]

Lincoln City

Lincoln City Official
PTV site, registration required to view.
[JM 26-5-05]

ImpSight
Busy rivals.net site, regularly updated with news, views and match reports. The message board is active.
[JM 26-5-05]

The Forgotten Imp
There's some useful info to be found on this independent fan site, though it appears to have stopped being updated around March '03.
[JM 26-5-05]

Planet Imp
Lincoln's footy.mad site - somewhat better than the average footy.mad site, but only just.
[JM 26-5-05]

Back to Top of Page

Macclesfield Town

Macclesfield Town Official
PTV site, registration required.
[JM 26-5-05]

Silk Web
Macc's rivals.net site is a cut above most other rivals.net sites - hosts an active message board. RECOMMENDED.
[JM 26-5-05]

Macclesfield Town Mad
A footy.mad site, but don't let that put you off this time - well worth a browse.
[JM 26-5-05]

Back to Top of Page

Mansfield Town

Mansfield Town Official
PTV, register, etc etc.
[JM 26-5-05]

StagsNet
Online presence of the official supporter's club and easily the best Mansfield site. Contains an active message board.
[26-5-05]

Stags Online
Standard rivals.net site. Mediocre at best.
[JM 26-5-05]

Deja Vu
The online presence of the fanzine of the same name. Contains a fairly busy message board
[JM 26-5-05]

Team Mansfield Supporters Trust
An uninspiring site to visit, does the job it's required to but not one thing more, no way, no how.

Northampton Town

Northampton Town Official
PTV site, registration required to view.
[JM 26-5-05]

Northampton Town Unofficial
The Cobblers rivals.net site is regularly updated, contains all the usual stats and info and has an active message board.
[JM 26-5-05]

NTFC Supporters Trust
Nicely designed site contains all the info that NTFC Supporters Trust members should require.
[JM 26-5-05]

The Cobblers
Apart from some limited archived historical info and an active guest book there's not a great deal here to persuade the neutral to return.
[JM 26-5-05]

Cobblers Heaven
This unofficial fan site has lots of good content but stopped updating during the 03-04 season.
[JM 26-5-05]

NTFC Online
Another unofficial site with some good content but which hasn't been updated for a long while now..
[JM 26-5-05]

Cobblers Mad
NTFC's footy mad site.
[JM 26-5-05]

Notts County

Notts County Official
PTV, registration required.
[JM 26-5-05]

www.1862.net
Newish independent site for which the word 'comprehensive' was invented. All the info on Notts County you could possibly require including erm, comprehensive news and history sections, comprehensive club info, comprehensive player profiles, comprehensive stats and erm, fairly perfunctory (at the moment) match reports. Also includes an under-used message board and a newsletter. RECOMMENDED.
[JM 26-5-05]

You Pies
Another new independent site containing basic info and an under-used message board.
[JM 26-5-05]

NottsCounty.net
NCFC's rivals.net offering is pretty typical of most rivals.net offerings and you know what we mean when we say that.
[JM 26-5-05]

Notts County MAD
In total contrast, NCFC's footy.mad offering is well above most footy.mad offerings. Full to the brim with articles, editorials and a busy message board, it's that rare thing - a footy.mad site that's RECOMMENDED.
[JM 26-5-05]

The Mighty Magpies
Independent site specialising in Notts County nostalgia, including a number of old photos, video clips and sound files.
[JM 25-5-05]

SuperNotts.com
Another independent site specialising in Notts County nostalgia, including a number of old photos, video clips and sound files. Is there an echo in here?
[JM 26-5-05]

Up The Maggies!
Yet another independent site specialising in Notts County nostalgia, believe it or not, and the most comprehensive of all of them, at least at first glance. What is it with Notts County and nostalgia? Anyone would think they were the oldest league club in the world or something... I'll get my coat and my Panini sticker album. Anyone swap a Tommy Lawton for a Tony Christie?
[JM 26-5-05]

Notts County Supporters Trust
Does exactly what you would want and an expect a supporters trust website to do. Thoroughly comprehensive

Oxford United

Oxford United Official
PTV site, registration required to view.
[JM 26-5-05]

Rage Online
Online presence of the Rage On fanzine. Big sprawling site, well worth browsing if you've got a spare day or two. Articles are of a good quality and the news page is kept bang up to date. RECOMMENDED.
[JM 26-5-05]

Minchery Farm Web
Neat independent site, easily navigable and regularly updated with news and views. Some good photo sections, including plenty of shots of the new stadium.
[JM 26-5-05]

Yellows-Online
Typical rivals.net site, no need to say anymore.
[JM 26-5-05]

Oxford United Mad
Typical footy.mad site, no need to say anymore.
[JM 26-5-05]

Oxford United Exiles
Site designed for the use of - you guessed it - Oxford exiles. There's a members-only area which only members will know about, for the rest of us there's some basic info to be found here.

Buying and selling site for Oxford memoribilia.

[JM 26-6-05]

talkingposh.net
Posh's rivals.net site is the usual mixture of out-of-date articles and an up-to-date news service. Redeems itself with a fine history/archive section.

rdfcNet
Tidy independent site which is regularly updated and hosts a busy R & D message board. Even boasts a history section, no mean feat for a club that came into existence five minutes ago.
[JM 26-5-05]

diamondsweb.co.uk
Rushden's rivals.net site. File under 'I' for irrelevant.
[JM 26-6-05]

[JM 27-5-05]

GullsNet
Torquay's rivals.net site is almost completely out of date and the message board is barely used. Why bother?
[JM 27-5-05]

Torquay United Mad
Torquay's footy.mad site lives well down to the standards set by Torquay's rivals.net site. Really, why bother?
[JM 27-5-05]

TUFCPictures.com
Pictures of variable quality of various Torquay games/events.
[JM 27-5-05]

Barnstaple Gulls
Website of huge interest to all Barnstaple Gulls members I'm sure, the rest of us may be somewhat underwhelmed however.
[JM 27-5-05]

Gloucester Gulls
The best of a frankly poor bunch of Torquay websites. I'm not recommending this site you understand, but at least it's neatly designed and makes some pretence at giving the casual visitor some TUFC information.

Wrexham

Wrexham Official
PTV site, register to view.
[JM 27-5-05]

Red Passion
Highly impressive independent site with a very busy message board and reams of info/photos/articles on Wrexham FC; concentrating, of course, on the fight to save the club. RECOMMENDED.
[JM 27-5-05]

Robins Online
Wrexham's rivals.net site is promising a facelift, a revamp of old articles and news sections and features for next season. Judging by the current content it badly needs it. How far the stifling (in our opinion) rivals.net format will help that remains to be seen
[JM 27-5-05]

ONTTSS
One Nil To The Sheep Shaggers of course, what else could it be? Well-designed independent site with good content. Well worth a browse.
[JM 27-5-05]

[JM 27-5-05]

When Skies Are Blue
Better than yer average rivals.net site, within the limitations imposed by that format.
[JM 27-5-05]
