Yeovil Town : Myles Hippolyte Profile
Myles Hippolyte: Player Profile

Name: Myles Hippolyte

Position: Left Wing

Date of Birth: 9 November 1994

Place of Birth: London

Profile : Despite the bulk of his career being in Scotland, Myles is actually a Londoner. He was born on November 9th 1994 and began his career with Harrow Youth League club Westway (situated just north of Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road ground) he went on to play for Brentford's youth team, going through their scholarship programme, where he was their top goalscorer on both seasons. Despite this, the Bees chose not to offer him a professional contract, with Hippolyte admitting that his failure to turn up to training on time on a number of occasions had probably contributed to that decision.

Hippolyte spent the next few years working around a number of non-league sides, playing for Southall, Hayes and Yeading United and Burnham within reach of his home, and Tamworth up in the Midlands. It was only in the summer of 2014 that his career began to take off, when he chose to move north of the border, signing for Scottish Championship club Livingston after a trial. He spent 18 months there, making 64 appearances and scoring eight goals.

By then, he was well known in Scottish football and in January 2016, Falkirk signed him for an undisclosed fee. There he proved popular, with 15 goals in 66 appearances, even to the point of the local chip shop naming a 'Hippolyte Haggis' as one of their products on offer in his name. However, in January 2018, he left for St Mirren - this move wasn't a great success for him, as he only appeared eight times for them, scoring one goal.

Hippolyte's most recent club was Dunfermline Athletic who he joined for the start of the 2018-19 season on a two year contract. That move caused a bit of controversy, given that whilst he was at Falkirk, he had won a penalty against Dunfermline that had a definite touch of simulation behind it, which had led to him becoming a bit of a hate figure for his new club. Despite that, he settled in and scored six goals from 39 appearances, including four in his first four appearances. However, in May 2019 he agreed to have his contract terminated by mutual consent, after Dunfermline boss Stevie Crawford warned the winger that he would be sitting down the pecking order in his plans for the coming season, and the pair agreed to part company.

He spent the early part of the summer of 2019 trialling for Bradford City, scoring two goals in their pre-season friendly win over Brighouse Town - both from the penalty spot. However, he wasn't retained in their later friendlies, giving Yeovil the chance to sign him up after he had played in left wing-back and striker positions for the club. First team manager Darren Sarll said at the time of Hippolyte's signature:

"He warranted a registration with us based on the three games he had and what I heard from the supporters and how popular he'd become with them - that's important. Supporters come to watch players they like watching, not ones you have little or no respect for. The only thing I relate to is the contribution they have to the scoreline and us winning games and what Myles did in his time was contribute directly to two wins and a draw. He played in three or four positions and showed a good disciplined attitude whilst also showing a lot of natural instinct relating to the type of player he is, and I"m delighted he's decided to come on board."

Following a period in pre-season as a trialist, Yeovil Town signed Hippolyte on Monday 29th July 2019, giving him a one year contract, keeping him at the club until June 2020, with the club also having an option of a second year.
