Name: Shaun Donnellan
Position: Central Defender
Date of Birth: 16 October 1996
Place of Birth: Barnet
Shaun Donnellan was signed on a permanent contract by Yeovil Town on January 27th 2018, shortly after his release by West Bromwich Albion. Born in Barnet on October 16th 1996, he moved through the West Brom Academy ranks before being given his first professional contract in July 2015. He was given a 16 game loan spell with Worcester City during that season, where he scored four goals.
During the 2016-17 season, the intention had been for him to step up a level, and he joined Stevenage on loan before the season started. However, on the final day of the August window and with Donnellan not having made an appearance, the Baggies decided to recall him. Instead, he played for their Under-23s side, as well as making three appearances in the Checkatrade Trophy that year. During the second half of the 2016-17 season he was given a loan spell with Dagenham and Redbridge, where he made 21 appearances as they made the National League play-offs.
Donnellan then was given a half-season spell with Walsall during the first half of the 2017-18 campaign, where he made eleven appearances. With his time on the field drying up as time progressed - his last league start came for them in late October - they allowed him to return to the Hawthorns at the end of 2017.
If the surname seems familiar, he is the nephew of former Yeovil Town midfielder Gary Donnellan, who played for the Glovers between 1987 and 1990. He's also the son of Leo Donnellan who played for Fulham during the same period, whilst his younger brother Leo Donnellan Jr was on the books of Dagenham and Redbridge during the 2016-17 season.
Shaun has penned a contract with the club that runs until the end of the 2018-19 season, giving him an 18 month stay at Huish Park.
