Born on December 18th 1997, Matt is a former Portsmouth youth team player, who switched across to Southampton, and then later Bournemouth. He's made one Premier League appearance as a substitute during the 2016-17 season, as a 74th minute substitute on the final day of the season against Leicester City. He also had a four game loan spell with Eastbourne Borough during the 2015-16 season. Matt is predominantly a central midfielder but can also play as a right-back.
He was at Huish Park during the August 2017 pre-season friendly against AFC Bournemouth just prior to his decision to join the Glovers, and was a 72nd minute substitute for them on the night. At the tail end of the 2016-17 season, he was captaining Bournemouth's Under-21s side.
On August 31st 2017, Matt agreed a loan deal with Yeovil Town that will run until January 2018. He became the club's thirteenth signing of the summer, teaming up with striker Sam Surridge who is also at Huish Park on a similar loan deal. He becomes the latest in a long chain of Cherries to try their luck on loan at Huish Park including Brandon Goodship, Josh Wakefield, Ben Whitfield, Matt Butcher, Harry Cornick and Sam Surridge.
