Name: Sid Nelson
Position: Central Defender
Date of Birth: 1 January 1996
Place of Birth: Lewisham
Nelson is a local lad from his parent club Millwall's point of view - he was born in Lewisham on January 1st 1996, and signed for the Lions at the age of eight years old, with many of his family being supporters of the club. He turned professional in August 2014, after having captained their Youth Team. His senior debut came on December 28th 2014, whilst Millwall were still a Championship club. He's so far accumulated 38 appearances for them across three seasons, although mainly acting as an understudy to familiar names such as Byron Webster.
In January 2017, Nelson got a taste of League Two, as a loan deal sent him off to Newport County. There he played on 14 occasions for the South Wales club in their much-improved second half of the 2016-17 season, before returning to the New Den. He didn't play against the Glovers in the Easter weekend match at Rodney Parade, having dropped out of their starting line-up during the tail end of their season, but stayed on their books until the final match that saw them stay up.
A small pre-season injury in the summer of 2017 meant that he missed part of Millwall's build-up to the 2017-18 season, and therefore they had flagged him as available for loan, with match time obviously important to get him back into their first team reckoning. That led to him being unveiled as a Yeovil Town loan signing on August 21st 2017, with the deal between the two clubs running until January 2018.
