Name: Joe Lea
Date of Birth: 16 December 1997
Place of Birth: Portsmouth
Joe signed for Yeovil Town on July 2nd 2016. He was born on December 16th 1997 and grew up in the Portsmouth area and was initially part of their youth academy until 2007 when he made the decision to move across the south coast and join the Saints at nine years old. He reached the Under-18s level during the 2013-14 season, and that led to him being given a two year scholarship in the summer of 2014. Southampton's website describes him as "a midfielder who likes to combine creativity with agression, he craves the consistency displayed by Frank Lampard throughout his career as the youngster looks to continue his journey through the ranks". Joe came through the same academy set-up as Glovers midfielder Ollie Bassett, who left their programme a year previously. Manager Darren Way has said of Lea's signing:
"Joe is an exciting young prospect with bundles of energy and is a player I cannot wait to work with. He comes to Yeovil at the same age as Liam Walsh, so I am sure if his performance levels in pre season are good, his opportunity to play first team football will come soon. I must thank Joe's parents and agent for choosing Yeovil Town to help Joe develop his career."
He has signed a one year contract at Yeovil Town that will keep him at Huish Park until June 30th 2017.
