Name: Artur Krysiak
Date of Birth: 11 August 1989
Place of Birth: Lodz, Poland
Yeovil Town brought former Exeter City goalkeeper Artur Krysiak to Huish Park on June 30th 2014. He was out of contract and left St James Park at the end of the 2013-14 season. Although he was on the Grecians' released list, the implication was that the player himself had decided to leave rather than his club pushing him out the door, with disappointment expressed by the Exeter management at their loss.
Born in Lodz, Poland, on August 11th 1989, he is a 6'4" keeper who started his career with UKS SMS Lodz before Birmingham City took him into their club's academy system during 2006, putting him under the wing of former England goalkeeper Nigel Spink. There he failed to make a first team appearance for the Blues, but did get some minimal experience out on loan for five different clubs - Gretna, York City, Swansea City (as a Championship club), Motherwell, and more significantly with Burton Albion who he played 40 times for during 2009-10.
When Birmingham released him, he moved to the South-West, signing for Exeter in the summer of 2010. There he made 142 appearances across four years. When he left the club in May 2014, Grecians boss Paul Tisdale was full of praise for the Pole's time under him:
"Artur has been absolutely impeccable in his professionalism throughout his time with the club and he has had nothing but commitment to improving himself and the team. Of all the goalkeepers that we have had at St James's Park during my time with the club, he has the technical and physical attributes to potentially go furthest in the game, and I believe that had can go on to play at a very high level. He is still only 24 years old and has already played the best part of 200 Football League games – most of which with us – and we are grateful for his significant input during these past four seasons."
Artur had a slow start to his Yeovil Town career, featuring only on an infrequent basis during his first season, leading to manager Paul Sturrock transfer-listing him in the summer of 2015. However, Sturrock's later u-turn saw Krysiak become the club's No.1 keeper during the 2015-16 campaign, with him picking up End of Season Awards from the GWSC, Cary Glovers and DSA, as well as picking up a Community Sports Trust Community Award.
With Artur by now firmly established as a first team regular, he was given a new two year contract in May 2016, meaning that he will be on the club's books until the summer of 2018.
