Yeovil Town suffered their worst defeat of the 2013-14 season this afternoon, as they were hammered 5-1 by Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium. Despite taking the lead through Ishmael Miller's close range conversation after the Terriers failed to clear their lines, the Glovers fell apart across two spells in which the home side scored a brace of goals.
Midfielder Adam Clayton equalised midway through the first half as he found room in midfield perhaps left by an injured Ed Upson who had to come off immediately after that goal in an early blow for the Glovers. But the Terriers were well in control when Martin Paterson converted a ball into the box five minutes before the break, followed immediately by Joel Lynch heading home a near post corner.
Yeovil's woes continued after the break, as Marek Stech was substituted at the break with a thigh injury, replaced by Chris Dunn between the sticks. But the substitute keeper conceded twice through Danny Ward's two second half goals - the first a powerful shot into the roof of the net, with his second following three minutes later, as the Glovers finished the game feeling very sorry for themselves.
The end result leaves Yeovil still in 23rd place, with Barnsley losing again to stay below them. With the four sides immediately above them all drawing, the damage on the League table is not too great. However, the mental damage from two heavy away defeats in just three days will not be good, and with injuries to Stech and Upson likely to thin the squad further, the January transfer window can't come soon enough, as it's becoming clear the current squad needs reinforcements.
