Match Report:

Yeovil Town were unfortunate not to have come away with more than just the point against fellow play-off hopefuls Oldham Athletic at Huish Park today. Oldham came to Huish Park with an incredible run of seven away victories on the trot; a run stretching back since the beginning of November.

Neither Yeovil nor Oldham were able to break the deadlock and that was largely due to Oldham’s ‘keeper Mark Crossley who made a string of fine saves to deny Russell Slade’s side the breakthrough.

Yeovil thought they had found the break through with ten minutes remaining on the clock when Lloyd Owusu broke through the Oldham defence and unselfishly squared the balled across goal to new signing Andy Kirk but his shot was bravely blocked by the ‘keeper. Yeovil came even closer to breaking the deadlock in the dying minutes; this time it was the post denied Yeovil the breakthrough after Marcus Stewart rattled the woodwork with a well-stuck shot.

Even when Crossley wasn't able to cover the goal, Oldham's well-drilled defence were on hand to protect their goalkeeper. An Owusu header was denied by Oldham striker Lee Hughes who was guarding the goalpost - one of two goal-line clearances he made during the afternoon, whilst former Glover Jean-Paul Kalala chipped in with his own goal-line clearance.

The visitors also had referee Jarnail Singh to thank - the usually reliable official missed one of the biggest cast-iron handballs in the box of the season when with 15 minutes remaining, an Oldham hand palmed the ball away from an incoming Yeovil player, but Yeovil's long wait for their first penalty of the season goes on, with Singh and his Main Stand assistant seemingly the only people in the ground who missed the incident. This game may have ended up goalless, but it certainly wasn't dull.
