Yeovil Town kicked off their league campaign with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town in Yorkshire today. The Glovers made the brighter of starts only to find themselves go a goal behind on 17 mins from the Terriers first real chance of the game. A Danny Schofield cross from the right found an unmarked Luke Beckett to convert a simple chance from 5 yards out.

After the goal, the home side took control of a game that was becoming increasingly scrappy. A nasty two footed challenge by Frank Sinclair resulted in a booking as half time approached with the Glovers struggling to impose themselves on the contest.

Half Time: 1-0

The second half began with Yeovil taking the game to the hosts and clawing their way back into the game. Huddersfield seemed content to hang on to their one goal advantage. On 74 mins, Slade made a double substitution (Morris & Cochrane for Williams & Lynch) and changed formation to a back three. This seemed to spur the Glovers into pressing even harder for an equaliser. Chances were at a premium though.

A good shout for a penalty was turned down when Scott Guyett received a punch to the head from Glennon which, to the anger of manager Slade, resulted in a free kick to Huddersfield. On 80 mins, Guyett was brought holding his head from the punch received earlier on.

The later stages of the game saw the Glovers pushing hard for the reward they deserved but, for all their effort, came away from the Galpharm with nothing.

Full Time: 1-0

Russell will be disappointed with a defeat in a game we deserved a point from. We played well in patches but, did not work the keeper enough. There will be concern over the head injury to Scott Guyett. Hopefully, it is not too serious.
