National League side Woking have signed up former Yeovil Town defender Shaun Donnellan. The 22 year old has featured in both of the Cards' pre-season friendlies, with the latest coming this afternoon against Oxford United. That's been good enough for them to give him a contract of unspecified length for the 2019-20 season.
Donnellan spent the second half of the 2018-19 season playing for Maidstone United, also in the National League, where he made 14 appearances in three months at the Gallagher Stadium. With his contract running only for a half-season, and Maidstone dropping down a division, he's quickly moved on and will now be part of a Cards side that have recently been promoted back into the National League after a year down in National League South.
The nephew of Gary Donnellan had been a relatively regular name on the Yeovil Town teamsheet during 2018, following his signature in January of that year, with him having departed West Bromwich Albion. However, an error in the FA Cup First Round tie against Stockport County in November 2018 led to him being abruptly dropped from the line-up and his time at Huish Park was terminated by mutual consent after just 25 appearances and one goal.
