Former Yeovil Town winger Wes McDonald has stayed in League Two by signing for Walsall on a short-term deal. The Saddlers haven't disclosed the exact length of the 22 year old's contract, but sees him team up with former Bristol Rovers pair Darrell Clarke and Marcus Stewart at the Bescot Stadium.
McDonald missed the second half of the 2018-19 seaaon, after a hamstring injury curtailed his Glovers career, leading to the club releasing him from his half-season contract. He's now recovered from that problem and returns to the Midlands, where he has already spent time with Solihull Moors and Nuneaton, whilst on loan from Birmingham City. He gave his reaction to arriving at his new club:
"I'm absolutely delighted to be here. I'm buzzing and can't wait to get started at such a great club like Walsall. I'm a creative player and try to create chances, score goals and get assists. I always look to work hard and I've played in this league before so I know what to expect. I'm looking forward to going away with the lads (to Poland). I've spoken to a few of them and they seem a real good bunch of lads. I'm delighted the manager has given me this opportunity and I want to repay him on the pitch."
Darrell Clarke added that he was aware of how well McDonald had done last year at Huish Park:
"Wes comes in with something to prove. He did well at Yeovil last year before injury ruled him out, but he’s fully fit now and has got all the attributes a wide player should have. I'm looking forward to working with him."
