Yeovil Town striker James Hayter spoke to local journalist Chris Spittles, in an interview for BBC Somerset, after his side had drawn 1-1 against Accrington Stanley on Saturday 6th December 2014.
CS: James first of all let's talk about today's game - having been 1-0 ahead, are you disappointed not to have held on there?
JH: Yes we're disappointed in some sense through being in front, but I think to be honest they were much the better team in the second half, and they're probably going away feeling that they were unlucky not to win it. So in that sense we're still happy to be in the draw. We'll go back to our place and hopefully we can get the job there.
CS: So you're more disappointed with the performance, knowing that you can do better?
JH: Yes definitely - especially of late I think our performances have been quite good, and I thought it wasn't up to our usual standard today. So that's disappointing but the main thing is that we are in the (Third Round) draw and we've got to make sure that we get through at home.
CS: So unfortunately it wasn't a game to remember, but of course it was your 700th senior appearance. That must be a good feeling for you and a remarkable achievement really.
JH: Yes, it's a nice milestone. Obviously it's a good number as not that many people get up to those sort of figures. So it's nice and hopefully there's a few more to come.
CS: With this having been a draw in the FA Cup, will this mean more if you can go on and win the replay, and then you can look back upon your 700th as having been more significant?
JH: Yes definitely - I think there would be much more of a positive then. You can then go on into the next round. Obviously we will see the draw on Monday night, so we'll be aware of who we are playing. So we know that we've got to try to get through and then see who we're playing.
CS: When you set out as a young lad with Bournemouth, did you ever dream that you could get to 700 appearances?
JH: No, you just take each game as it comes really, and you try to get through them. To get a pro contract is the first thing. Then obviously it's just gone on year-by-year. I just want to keep that going really - I still feel quite fit, so hopefully I can go on a bit longer.
CS: Were you aware of the milestone ahead of today? Were you aware you were creeping closer?
JH: I knew I was creeping closer to that number through a couple of media guys who said I was getting nearer. But I didn't realise it was today until the manager said it beforehand 'do you know it's your 700th?' - so it's nice but like I've said it would have been a lot better if we had got ourselves into the next round.
