Defender Kevin Amankwaah talks to George Murray, Ben Orr and Nathan Jones having scored the only goal in 1-1 draw at home to Blackpool.

Qu: What was going through your mind when you were one-on-one with the keeper with seconds to go until half time?

KA: I just wanted to keep my head down and to try and hit the target and luckily for me it went in. I knew where I was going to go and I knew that I was gong to go for the far corner because the keeper was coming straight out on me. There was a bit of space in the far corner and I was aiming to lift the ball over the keepers legs and into the far corner. It was my first league goal any club and I feel that I should be getting more goals this season.

Qu: It was a great run by you to get into that one-on-one situation.

KA: I could see that they were short of defenders because it was a quick counter-attack. I knew that David Poole would run inside and I knew that if I went on my bike then they wouldnt catch me. Luckily he put the ball through on my path and I just stuck it in. It was a great ball and I think that Pooley did quite well when he came on. All I had to do was to concentrate and hit the target in the far corner.

Qu: You must be disappointed that despite the teams performance, you have only managed a point today when maybe you deserved all three?

KA: We would have liked to have got that first win of the season today but it wasnt to be. We thought that we had dominated the game and really we should have won today. We werent hitting the target well today and when we were it went straight at their keeper but I think that it will come. In training we are fantastic and we are hitting the target all the time. We do feel in ourselves that we can challenge at this level despite the first three games not going according to plan but we still have points on the board and we can build on that. I thought that the back four looked solid today. There was only one mistake and one goal. At the end of the day we didnt lose and we have got to build from there. The boys believe that we are as good as anyone in this league

Qu: Do you feel you are getting towards your best form now?

KA: I feel that there is still room for improvement. I think my crossing has got to be better and I will be practising that.
